Plane food here we come (lindsay loves it!)

So dear friends, it appears that our journey has come to an end. We sadly bid farewell to our beautiful el greco this morning, and took one last loop around Fira town. It really has cooled off in santorini over the past few days. Luckily, we were able to sneak in a few days of sunshine before the cool winds began a gail-forcing.

The cab ride back to the airport was quite adventerous. (i was sure linds was gunna puke. lol..) the driver was RECKLESS with our lives. I kept telling him that he had 'precious cargo' on board, but he did not seem concerned. He had a death wish.

However, we made it to the airport in one piece (or two pieces rather) just to get on the most turbulent flight we have EVER been on. The plane sure was a ROCKIN'. Again, sure linds was gunna puke..but she's a champ. Half an hour later, we landed, in 2 pieces, in athens.

One 45 minutes subway ride later, we arrived at our previous dorm style accommodations to check in to another 6 bed dorm. (what would this night hold we asked ourselves..)

Taking our stuff upstairs, it seemed as if only 1 of the beds was occupied, and no one in the room at that time in the afternoon. So we sorted out our things, claimed a couple of beds, and took to the town (with fingers crossed that no one else would join our room...)

We headed for a nice walk up to the Acropolis. beautiful ruins, but tragically were covered with much scaffolding and support beams- ruining many photo opportunities. Apparently, in the 1930's some people decided to try to 'upkeep' the runis, and actually ended up ruining the ruins. So not so many years later, they began to crumble etc...hense the supports. They are working on really re-doing the ruins, to hopefully get them back to their old selves.

We headed down the giant hill for some much needed nourishment. We found a beautiful little restaurant where we agreed that it was the best dinner we think we've enjoyed on this trip. Dalmates, Cheese croquettes and of course, pasta. But oh so tasty!

After dinner, headed to the streets for some shopping (it had been a few hours since we'd last spent money..it was due). Found some nice things! and ran out of money :( Just enough for cappuccinos in the morning. (of course).

Back to our digs, we entered our room with fingers crossed and breaths held to find a dude sitting on one of the beds. So apparently he's one of our roomates..and we've yet to see the other person occupying the other claimed bed. We may also have 2 more visitors as the night progresses...what an adventure! lol

So, this is the end.

We say farewell, as we're heading to the airport for home in the morning.

We've had a blast, tons of photos and memories...Thanks for reading, and thanks for sharing your comments...we loved the blog within a blog too..

We will be talking to you all soon.

xoxo
